Halaka

The women meet weekly in Cork Mosque on a Sunday 11am to 2pm for a Halaka.

The women's halaka is a gathering of muslim women at the mosque. It is a chance to meet, chat and learn. It takes place most Sundays, unless we have another event arranged for the women or the whole mosque; details of which can be listed here.

Qur'an through Arabic - Friday 6pm to 8pm at Cork Mosque

This meeting is aimed at arabic speakers where we memorise Surahs, study the meaning of the Surah that we memorise(Tafsiir) and we learn how to recite Qur'an correctly.

Everyone is welcome, so please come along . . .

Are you suffering from low self-esteem? Tiredness getting you down, holding you back? EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique may be your answer. It will help you break through those barriers that are holding you back from reaching your full potential.
The Cork Muslim Women's Group will welcome Rahma Kearns to Cork on Saturday 26th April 2008. She will hold a one day course for us on Stress Mangemant, Low Self Esteem and EFT level 1 (Emotional Freedom Technique)
It is a fun interactive course. You will be relaxed and have lots of fun.
Rahma has given similar courses in ICCI, Dublin with the approval of Sheik Hussain.

The day will be broken into 2 modules:
Module 1: will be about recognising stress and low self esteem and learning to relax. This will run from 10am to 1pm
Module 2: will be on EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). At the end of the EFT training we will get a cert to say we have completed EFT level 1. This will run from 2m to 6pm

The course is open to all women. You can attend one or either or both modules depending on how much time you have. The cost of the course is 3 euro per module or you can attend both modules for 5 euro. The course will be held in the sisters section in the Mosque. Directions to the mosque can be found here. Inshallah the sisters will cook food and bring it on the day and we can all have lunch together. There is the children's playroom in the Mosque and if sisters with kids who want to attend wish to arrange a supervision rota we can have a creche facility on the day. For more information on EFT go to here. We hope to see many sisters there. It should be a great day. See the poster here.

Fundraising

For the Cork Muslim Women's Group

We are always fundraising for the group as we are a voluntary goup and do not receive any funding. All our money comes from fundraising events we organise ourselves or from donations from members of the group.

Our recent project was that we organised a New Islamic Clothing Sale. We asked all sisters who had travelled abroad this summer to buy one or two items of islamic clothing or prayer mats or other Islamic items and donate them to the group. During Ramadhan, we had a big Sale of all these items and raised over 500 Euro. The sale was a great success and inshallah we hope to make it an annual event. The items that were left over we used for another Sale in March and it was also a great success.
We plan to make this an annual event so sisters please if you travel abroad to a country where you can buy any sort of islamic items or clothing for women, men or children please remeber the Sale. Inshallah the next sale will take place durring ramadhan 2008

For the Cork Mosque building fund

We try where we can to help raise funds to go towards building a permanent mosque in Cork. If you have any fundraising ideas please contact us here, we will appreciate all ideas.

Please check out the mosque notice board. Events organised by the women's group are also listed there.
